It
is located south of Lima in KM
97 of the Panamericana Sur. Asia is a marvelous place but it has little
wind to offer. Once a week winds of 8/9 knots come in from the north,
peak time its about 11am. The wind is sideshore, it is ideal to go out
from the Playa Blanca o Playa del Sol area and surf to Cayma or Las Palmas,
in order to go out to the water it is necessary to wait for it to calm
a little since there are waves of medium height and with the wind the
big kite is very slow to do hurried maneuvers with. Also once a week wind
from the south could come in with peak time at about 3 to 4 pm. With these
conditions it is convenient to go out from Cayma and go towards the Pampa
in direccion to the island to get better wind.
From the beach to the island it is aproximately 15 to 20 minutes roundtrip.
You ought be carefull if your kite falls to the water near the island
because the wind might take you to an area with waves and brave sea.
Altough once or twice a year winds of 12 to 15 knots come in it is usual
to have little wind, I recommend to use at least a number 16 kite (SURFACE)
with a directional board of 1.90 minimum (if you weight around 70KG) and
most important you should trim your kite to be able to move faster in
order to get out from the breakers quickly.
Most of the time there are dolphins accompanying you when you sail and
they give consolation when your kite falls to the water, and on the beach
during summer there is never lack of beautiful sirens. So there is more
than one reason to come and try to kitesurf with little wind in the middle
of the most wonderful archipielago of the peruvian coast.
